Dr. Scott Hagan

Scott A. Hagan is a pastor, writer and scholar. Scott earned his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University and recently served in 2024-25 as a visiting post-doctoral research collaborator at Princeton University through the James Madison Program. After a lengthy career as a pastor and educator, Scott Hagan was named in 2017 as the 7 th President of North Central University in Minneapolis, MN, where he served until 2023. Scott currently serves as a distinguished board member for the William Seymour Institute in Boston. The Seymour Institute serves clergy and scholars who explore issues confronting the Black church (and the greater church at large) with respect to religion, conscience, and faith. Current Seymour projects include launching the Black Church Commission on Bioethics, Human Life and Marriage. The Seymour Institute played a key role in organizing the international symposium on marriage and the family hosted by the Vatican. Scott Hagan also serves on the Board of Scholars for the International Version Bible (ISV) that is currently under development. Scott Hagan was instrumental in providing civil leadership and religious sensemaking in Minneapolis during the national crisis of George Floyd in downtown Minneapolis. Scott has been married to his once in a lifetime wife, Karen, for 42 years. They have four adult children and 11 outstanding grandchildren. They currently reside in Penryn, Ca. Scott and Karen currently travel and speak broadly across the United States and overseas. They currently serve on the executive team of Destiny Church as Preaching Pastors and President of Destiny Christian Schools.
