Christians care deeply about what is happening in our state, our schools, and our nation.
But, at some point, we have to admit that concern by itself does not change anything. It just keeps us emotionally invested while we stay uninvolved. Concern that never becomes commitment is just noise.
Nehemiah gives us a beautiful model in Scripture. He hears Jerusalem is broken, and he does not respond in frustration. He doesn’t hop on Facebook to complain. He doesn’t rage. He prays, fasts, seeks God, then he stands up and takes responsibility for what he can actually do.
Nehemiah inspects the wall, measures the damage, and names what is broken. Then, he organizes the rebuild so everyone owns a section and the work can actually move forward. Friends, what stays vague and criticized never gets built.
Then what happens? Pressure. Mockery. Threats. Fatigue. Setbacks. But Nehemiah doesn’t quit when the work gets hard or when the opposition gets loud. He tightens the plan, posts guards, and keeps building. If it is going to last, it has to be built with clarity and sustained with commitment.
We want better outcomes for families, faith, and freedom, but we often want them without the slow, expensive, unglamorous work that produces them. We want results without the cost of building what makes results possible.
There are broken walls in our culture. We have to stop reacting and start rebuilding.
Change is built on infrastructure. Principled candidates have to be recruited and trained. Voters have to be reached. Mail has to be paid for. Research has to be done. The Church has to engage. Pastors have to be encouraged. Legal support has to be ready. Coalitions have to be built. None of that runs on passion alone.
So, what is your section of the wall? For some people, it is showing up and serving in public office. For others, it is about resourcing organizations that do this work every week. If you want to rebuild, do not just agree with it; strengthen it. Walls rise when people give more than applause. What are you investing your time, money, prayer, and efforts in?
Please start rebuilding.
